AH, WHAT STRANGE BEDFELLOWS ...

La Gazette du Maroc, a "credible" Moroccan newspaper has come out with the following: Iran was responsible for handing over the info that resulted in Zarqawi’s death in Iraq.

Lots of circumstantial evidence supports this rather far out theory, apparently, and certainly — in the world of geopolitics — stranger things have happened.

If any of you can read French I’d like to hear what La Gazette du Maroc says.

Meanwhile, I’m sticking with my Nuke Iran position.

THE DEMS

[T]he most significant portent for the Dems may not be their stupendous flopperoo in the California special election nor the death of Zarqawi nor the non-indictment of Karl Rove—though, taken together, they render pretty threadbare the Democrat strategy of relying on Republican immigration splits, bad news in Iraq and the GOP's 'culture of corruption.' No, the revealing development is Joe Lieberman's troubles in Connecticut. Six years ago, he was the party's beaming vice presidential nominee. Two years ago, he was an also-ran for the presidential nomination. This summer, he's an incumbent senator struggling not to lose in his own primary to a candidate who's the darling of the anti-war netroots left. What's the senator done to offend the base? Nothing—except be broadly supportive of the Iraq campaign and other military goals in the war on terror. He's one of a very few Democrats who give the impression they'd like America to win. But in today's Democratic Party it's the mainstream that gets marginalized. Forty years ago, George Aiken recommended that in Vietnam America 'declare victory and go home.' Today, the likes of Jack Murtha, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy have come up with their own ingenious improvement: Declare defeat and go home. — Mark Steyn via the Patriot Post

Couldn't have said it better myself.

CBC REPORT ON PALESTINE

No comments from me, but here's what appears to be a non-media-prejudiced view of the goings on in Palestine. Interesting.

It’s a Real Player clip from CBC News . Take a look.

USN PERSONAL DATA FOUND ON WEBSITE

Personal data on approximately 28,000 sailors and family members was discovered on a civilian Web site in late June, and the Chief of Naval Personnel is working to identify those individuals affected, to notify them individually.

The Chief of Naval Personnel was notified June 22 that an open Web site contained five spreadsheet files with personal information including the name, birth date and social security number on several Navy members and dependents.

Individuals affected by this will be contacted soon by the Navy to ensure they have information on how to guard against identity theft. In addition, information on how to watch for suspicious activity on personal accounts is posted on the Navy Personnel Command (NPC) Web site

The Navy Personnel Command call center in Millington will be manned for sailors to call and see if their personal data was on the list. The number is 866 U ASK NPC (866-827-5672).

CARING ABOUT YOUR SAFETY?

I don’t think so …

In the best tradition of William Randolph Hearst those paragons of facetious First Amendment arguments over at The New York Times have decided it’s time to unveil another anti-terrorist government program aimed at tapping into the financial information of the enemy.

Revelaing the program is, quote, “... in the public interest,” unquote, according to Times editor Bill Keller.

Whoa, Keller, you really ‘wrassled’ with the logic of that conundrum.

We’d all be interested in your rag’s true circulation numbers, and your own true ideological philosophy, voting record, party and political association affiliations and …. ummmm, shoe size.

All save the shoe size are MOST DEFINITELY in “the public interest,” since its sooo important that you burn another good anti-terrorist program.

One can only hope your building burns to the ground.

Late Note: 6-25-06.
Not only is this a callous disregard for American lives, but it isn't even "news." The info's been available in a UN report on terrorist tailing since 2002. But, hey ...it IS the Times where plagiarism is just another word for journalism.

SICK BASTARDS

You can almost feel the glee being felt in newsrooms around the US as headline writers try to find different ways of relating, and the tale tellers revel in the descriptions of, what happened to the two GIs capture by Islamic terrorist in Iraq last week. I’m quite sure their families find it quite comforting.

I promised myself I wouldn’t let this get to me, but it has.

Sickening f-----g ghouls. Is it any wonder journalism is at the top of the don't trust/most hated list?

PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILIES NOW

My prayers go out to the families of Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, Texas and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker, 25, of Madras, OR, and Spc. David J. Babineau, 25, of Springfield, MA.

The bodies of Menchaca and Tucker were found yesterday and recovered today. Babineau died at a checkpoint south of Baghdad on the Euphrates River. All were from 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne. Tucker and Menchaca were captured last week when Babineau was killed.

Again … my prayers for their families.

If the leadership in this country had any gumption, now would be time to let this war get bloody — and damn anyone — a-n-y-o-n-e — who gets in the way.

MAY I HAVE A SIDE OF DISTORTIONS WITH BREAKFAST?

How does the press distort news? Here’re two examples. The first is a Chicago Tribune headline that Google News also opted to use.

“U.S. paints al-Zarqawi successor as outsider to Iraq.” US paints?

Uh, helloooo. The Wog they’re speaking about IS an outsider. He’s Egyptian. Hmmm, perhaps they were just trying to tell us the truth?

Then from Reuters: “Mosque bomber defies Baghdad crackdown, kills 10.”

Here’s yet another illiterate religious fanatic who decided to self-explode and take a bunch of church goers with him. You think breaking a curfew was a major consideration? Maybe he went into the mosque to avoid breaking the curfew.

And the gullible out there continue to lap up this crap.

And a late addition to this item: The NYT is running an article today about President Bush apologizing to an LAT reporter for making jokes about his wearing sunglasses because the reporter wears them for "health reasons." THAT'S news? In the "too-too" NYT? Kiss my ass. Probably wears them so the other reporters can't tell he's copying their notes.

God all mighty ... ever seen the T-shirt. "Noose. Journalist. Assembly Required." ? How apropos!

THE MEDIA / TERRORISM LINK PROVED

INK-MEDIA, originally uploaded by gpj631.

A paper titled Blood and Ink! The Common Interest Game Between Terrorist and the Media noted that there is a symbiotic relationship between terrorist acts and the newspaper coverage they generate. It also noted that the newspaper coverage instigates more terrorist acts ad nauseam, ad infinitum (and that’s why it’s symbiotic).

Anyway … the paper by Bruno S. Frey of the University of Zurich’s Institute for Empirical Research in Economics and Dominic Rohner of the University of Cambridge’s economics faculty, was done in March 2006 and found that media attention and terrorism mutually cause each other — for those of you who actually understand this stuff, the terrorism/media link exhibits a “Granger causality.” The paper also explains why terrorist acts are “‘bloodier’ in developing countries than in Europe and the United States.”

The paper makes quite interesting reading if you’re actually interested in terrorism beyond the combative aspects. You can download a copy at EconPapers . It's a 22-pager.

This is an economics paper, so if you understand the math, God bless ya. Skipping the math might not help you understand how the study was done, but there's still enough in there that's understandable to inform the layman.

STAR SPANGLED

An interesting piece by Isaac Asimov about the Star Spangled Banner and its four stanzas. I can’t say I knew ANY of this, so I thought it was worth sharing. Give it a read HERE .

An aside: I came to the above at a blog called IMAO that I also think is worth a look.

FLAG DAY AND THEN SOME

stethem, originally uploaded by gpj631.

Yup, June 14 is Flag Day, so if you’re not a regular flag waver, today’s the day to be one.

On a less upbeat note, today was also the day in 1985 that Navy Steelworker 2nd Class Robert D. Stethem of Underwater Construction Team 1 was killed.

By who, what, where? Well, it’s that darn old war on terror that doesn’t exist. It’s the same war that, had we killed a lot of these thugs way back when, we wouldn’t be fighting today.

Stethem was the Navy man killed by Shi’ite Islamic terrorists who’d hijacked TWA Flight 847. After beating him nearly to death, they shot him and threw his body out of the plane onto the tarmac.

So what did we do? Well, unlike the Israelis who hunted down and mad-dog killed every terrorist involved in the Munich Olympic massacre, Imad Mugniyah, Ali Atwa, and Hassan Izz-Al-Din, Mohammed Ali Hammadi (this is the mutt indicted for Stethem’s murder), who had all been in custody at one time or another, are all still happy as a Shi’ite on a sheep farm, at large and on the FBI’s most wanted terrorist list. There is still a $5 million reward on these dogs. Anybody got time to make a few bucks?

12 June 2006

AND FOR THOSE WHO MISSED IT …

Zwahiri knew who killed him. He was alive about an hour after the bombs hit and was placed on a stretcher by allied troops. See, there is a God … only he’s ours!

IS HE ON THE RUN YET?

Abu Hamza al-Muhajer has been named the new al Qaida leader in Iraq. No word on who he is, but you just know he’s saying, “NOW they make me the leader?!”

Meanwhile, US forces and Iraqi troops have been conducting raid after raid based on intel obtained after the Zawahri hit.

While the GIs and Grunts put their lives on the line, the good ol’ media goes about its usual, placing baby body counts in every story, reiterating the “guilty until proven innocent” tales of the Haditha “massacre,” which as more and more info comes in is seeming less and less likely to have occurred (naturally, you’ll not read about that) … and … the beat goes on.

IT'S A WAR AGAINST ISLAM, STUPID

We didn’t call World War II the War Against V-2s, or the War Against Banzai attacks, nor did we call any of the actions of the Cold War the War Against Mig-27s.

No, it was the war against the Axis, the war against communism, etc.

Terrorism is merely a weapon. The war is with Islam. Don’t forget it. And don’t maintain a defeatist's political correctness. The war is against Islam, period.

08 June 2006

ALL F-----G RIGHT!

Thanks to some spec ops trackers and a quick bomb strike, Islamic terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was nailed last night north of Baghdad (as I write this at 0800 on 08 June, it’s 1600 in Baghdad). ID was positive.

This may not stop anything (and the media is covered with the classic “the violence will continue” pessimistic — unfortunately true — asides), we still killed the son of a bitch. Feed whatever remains of his corpse to the dogs.

Remember this, because no matter what you hear from defeatist liberals, this was a coordinated effort (Jordanian intelligence is said to have played a big part in the attack), significantly showing a commonality of purpose. I may have to eat my words about Islam as a whole, but it would seem that even "mainstream" Islam is starting to tire of endless, insensible murder. If that's true, I'll be the first to modify my opinion.

I gotta say that makes today brighter. Congrats to all involved. VIDEO OF THE HIT HERE

Next up ... that skinny rat bastard Saudi.

(Funniest TV news moment ... a Fox anchor after a listing of many of Zarqawi's more heinous crimes said in all seriousness, "Thank you for that listing of Zarqawi's greatest hits." Ya just can't make this stuff up!)

TIME TO GET RID OF THE UN, TOO

The Assistant Secretary General of the UN has condescendingly decided he knows what makes America tick, and that we’re all a bunch of mindless morons be lead by our noses.

Admit it. We’ve all had it with the UN. They do their best to ruin New York City, they take advantage of our Bill of Rights, they smuggle drugs, contraband and God knows what else … and then the number two guy tells us wedon’t know what we’re doing?

Close the UN and send the whole operation to France or Germany or one of those lovely third world nations to which damn near every ambassador comes from and I guarantee won’t return to. No more Big Apple. Let them get fat, rich, drunk and ignore the laws in Mogadishu or Kampala, Georgetown (Guiana), Guadalcanal or some other lovely little sunny spot. See ya, wouldn’t wanna be ya.

The UN hasn’t done anything of any consequence since the Korean War … and we organized that little fiasco. They’re an anachronism, as well as a cover for foreign spies and diplomatic degenerates.

We don’t need them, and we sure as hell better stop paying for them.

MORE GOOD GUYS

Who says big business doesn’t have a heart. Bank of America is donating $1 million to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund to help finance a 60,000 square foot rehabilitation center for service members critically wounded in war.

AND LETS NOT FORGET

Today’s a good day to remember because it signaled — at great cost in life — the downfall of the last group of maniacs that attempted world domination.

D-Day was 61 years ago today and the blood shed on the beaches of Normandy was the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany.

WHEN IS A DUCK NOT A DUCK?

When it’s a Muslim terrorist.

The next time you read a newspaper account of terrorists being killed, hunted, captured, killing civilians, etc., count how many times the words “Muslim terrorist” or “Islamic terrorist” are used.

The New York Times managed to publish an 1800-plus word story about a ring of Muslim terrorists that Canadian law enforcement broke up in late May/early June without EVER mentioning the word Muslim in that context.

Have a look-see at THIS ARTICLE for an absolutely hysterical — in light of the nationalities and religious affiliations of most of the people involved — summation of how most of the “mainstream media” distorts the news the majority of Americans depend upon for information - which, in turn, is how they form opinions (one would hope).

A DIFFERENT SIDE OF IRAQ

Thanks to Chris K. for turning me onto this blog about the flora and fauna (mostly the later) of IRAQ . It's written by a guy who did a year over in the land of sand and oil.

TIME TO LET GOD SORT ‘EM OUT

Well, I think I’ve about had it with the Muslim world and I think it’s officially time to take a new stance on what’s going on in the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, et al.

Yes, it’s time to Kill Them All and Let God — OUR God, not any bomb-slinging, bushwhacking, book-burning rep of Allah, but good old Christian G-O-D — sort them out.

I've tried to be fair and reasoned, but It’s come the time to call this sorry excuse for a religion what it really is.

Islam is an organized structure condoning and fostering hate, intolerance, sexism, abuse, pedophilia, war, genocide and little else.

Islam cannot be tolerated any longer under any guise, for any reason. To do so is incredibly self destructive at best, moronic at worst.

This religion teaches — and if you think this is an exaggeration, you’re an ass — their children to be murderers in the name of some 4th century ragamuffin, whose sole contribution to the genetic pool has been people whose purpose in life is to make sure everyone else’s standards of living are as abysmal as their religion dictates theirs be.

It’s time to stop genuflecting to the gods of political correctness and call a spade a spade. Islam is a danger to the world’s well being and it mustn’t be tolerated —candy-ass knee jerk liberal college professors, journalists, philosophers, attorneys be damned — in our society.

Islam belongs in the third world where it should fester and rot — a fitting end for an aberrant philosophy rivaling the worst the world has seen.

MASSACRE AND THE WARRIOR CODE

patrol, originally uploaded by gpj631.

While I can honestly say I never killed anyone in combat who wasn’t — or soon wouldn’t be — trying to kill me, I sometimes find it hard to understand the uproar over the inadvertent killing of civilians. Now the Iraqi government is demanding an apology for the killings.

Inadvertent will probably raise the hackles on some of your necks, but the men involved in these type of war time killings didn’t go out into the field with the purpose of killing civilians. It is a byproduct of the trauma of combat. In group situations, admittedly, it also reflects a breakdown in leadership at the — in this case — squad or fire team level.

It is NOT, however, endemic to the military machine, but rather is a fallout from the rigors and stress of combat.

Naturally the mass media has already started its “Iraq’s My Lai” coverage. For those of you too young to recall, My Lai (mee-lie) was a village where a platoon of GIs ran amok, and killed the civilian populace of the town of My Lai in mid-coastal Viet Nam.

The background of the My Lai story — mostly under-reported, if not totally ignored — has much more pertinency than the media coverage of the incident suggested.

In their defense, the soldiers in question had been taking devastating wounds from booby traps in the weeks before the massacre, lost several men, but never were able to close with an enemy.

This inability to fight enemy is a major factor in the current situation and provided the psychological fuel for the storm that was to come. I don’t doubt that the fire team that killed the Iraqi civilians — if indeed they did — had been in a similar situation.

At what point, however, does the warrior code become subverted and massacre occur?

In our culture, much has to do with each individual’s make up. In the terrorist culture there is — obviously — no distinctions, and they are free to kill any and every individual. This is an ethos that exacerbates the subversion of the warrior code and feeds the psychosis of combat.

Many soldiers — you’ll see it a lot in special operations — are able to kill in rather brutal fashion, but remain able to distinguish between combatants and non combatants, as well as distinguish whether a combatant is no longer a threat (this latter is very iffy, as —generally — the only good combatant is a dead one … or at least one severely wounded enough to be unable to think of anything except his wounds).

Some soldiers, however, find the distinctions tenuous. If you take fire from a building, there is really no great leap in logic to assume anyone in the building is worth a .223 round in the forehead.

The bottom line is that in combat, shit happens. In a war situation where there is absolutely no target discrimination shown by the enemy, and the populace appears to be siding with that enemy, massacres have, can and will continue to happen.

This unit of Marines were probably better off calling in air strikes or artillery which are able to kill civilians with relative impunity, allowing them the wherewithal of an “oops.” Unfortunately they no longer have that option and some of them will end up doing prison time on this.

I’ll never say killing civilians is all right. But I’ll never imprison our soldiers for doing so, because that is the result of war. There is very little that is non-psychotic about combat. It’s exists on a level of intellectual and emotional activity that can only be considered by those who have lived through it.

George Clemenceau’s “war is too important to be left to the generals” has an unspoken corollary: “peace is too important to be left to the politicians.”

Leave this to the military; it has no relevance nor requires any input from a civilian populace that couldn’t keep the images of September 11, 2001 in mind for more than a year. Our people are at war and in war things such as this will happen

MOORE BEING SUED

A GI wounded in Iraq who was used in Michael Moore’s film Fahrenheit 9/11 (the bastard even used that to further his creepoid agenda) is suing the slovenly looking director. I won’t go into the details, but the guy lost both arms and contends the film portrayed him as anti-policy and anti-president, and that just ain’t the truth.

It’s called selective editing and I hope Sgt. Peter Damon gets the $85 mil for which he’s suing.

The entire story is HERE . And don’t forget to check out the AOL poll.
