IED SURVIVABILITY

So, what's it like to get hit with a van-size IED? Here's a report from Afghanistan concerning an attack that occurred about two weeks ago. The vehicle in the pictures is an armored South African one the Canadians are using. The FULL STORY can be found here.

There are some other images (AP Photos) as well as one of the van that launched the attack.

There’s also a very interesting piece titled Blast Resistance for Beginners on Defense Industry Daily that explains the difference between surviving and dying in an armored vehicle. It makes for sober reading and also raises more than a few questions regarding why our folks aren’t riding ONLY in vehicles that will survive IED strikes (which the f-----g Iranians are CONSTANTLY improving and shipping to the al Qaeda and Taliban. And you wonder why I say NUKE IRAN).

Both are interesting reads.

And, by the way, a long neglected thanks to our neighbors from the north who are ground pounding in Afghanistan. I think I've been quite remiss in not mentioning them more often.
