Here's a response from the Kerry people. It's supposed to be from him, but it's from his press people, which gives ol' John deniability. (I received it about a half hour after sending him an e-mail castigating him for the remark. Quite prompt, eh?)
Essentially he blames it all on President Bush and VP Cheney, saying that it was a "botched joke" and the president "knew it."
"I apologize to no one for my criticism of the President and of his broken policy. If anyone owes our troops in the fields an apology, it is the President."
If anyone wants the full text of Kerry's answer, I'll be happy to forward it to you.
The arrogance of this increasingly inconsequential mutt is unbelieveable.
