He did a better job that Gates will do, and he got tossed because he didn't give a rat shit what the press had to babble about his style and thus made them an enemy, which wasn't a politically bright thing to do, thus proving his entire focus was on kicking ass in a place where kicking ass is the only thing anyone understands. (And yes, not ALL of his policy ideas were great, but the majority were on the right track).

Sometimes you have to go to war with the president you have rather than the president you would like to have at a later time.
I'll miss this lyrical dude. He was unique. But he had to go, because THEY all have to go. Bush and Cheney are worse off without their lightning rod. And, that is all to the good.
