Sometimes I actually ask myself if, perhaps, I really do ignore the pain, suffering, horror, etc., et al, that passes for the human condition simply because I, like most of the liberal trash in the US, am blinded by dogma and preconceived notions.
I rail against doves for not understanding the necessity of war; against those that have forgotten the events of of September 11, 2001; against those who reveal their inability to function on reason, instead preferring to be told how to think by those who will be responsible for the fall of our nation; and many others.
We've all heard of the poor mosques that have been bombed, blown up, used as forts, etc., by an enemy that functions at a level somewhere below serial killer. We've all heard how "terribly" our soldiers treat armed combatants. We read - every single day - of negative things happening in a difficult war, while rarely are successes written about (think about this last one. Do you find it credible that Americans troops die at what seems like a horrendous rate while the death and destruction caused by the most potent war machine the world has ever seen has no effect on the opposing forces?).
Sometime it wears me down - intellectually and emotionally - and I consider closing down LRRP's World because I feel like just another voice in the wilderness.
And then ... while going through the world news from source reading, rather than allowing the incompetents and liars of the liberal Fourth Estate tell me their version of events ... I come across validation.
Here's exactly what I mean.
Go to your search engine and enter "church of the holy spirit, iraq" and see what comes up from the MSM. Nothing, right?
Then read THIS
Never read or heard about it have you?
The vast majority of the Fourth Estate - the Gray Lady, LAT, WAPO, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc. et al, ad nauseam - are liars and thieves, and will try to steal your country away from your control this fall simply by not reporting the truth, instead emitting opinion, neglecting to mention fact or alternate truths, and subjectively reporting - like the good lackies they are - what the doddering dilletantes and outright crooks that compose the Democrat (and some of the GOP, I might add) Party, proffer as "reform," al the while smiling as they pull your country from beneath your feet.
The ramblings, meanderings and personal opinions about war, politics, adventure and anything else that strikes my fancy.

"SICKO" IS WHAT YOU'LL BE
As i've said before, I refuse to watch anything Michael Moore produces because he consistently produces docudramas rather than documentaries, but bills them -- as do his adoring and shortsighted fans -- as the latter.
That's called lying by omission, no matter what the libs say about "artistic license," the latter, an excuse only permissible in that wacky world in which the left lives.
I say wacky world, because only a liberal could possibly believe that you could get better medical care in socialist Cuba than in democratic United States. I've been to a lot of socialist countries, and have experienced many of their medical systems up close (unfortunately). I've been dressed in street clothes and allowed into OR theaters while the patient was open on the table ... that's not something I make up, it's something that happened. Is that indictment any more damning than Moore's? Yes, but because a rabid Conservative Federalist said it, it can be dismissed as reactionary hyperbole.
Argh... ANYway ...
HERE'S a review from someone with a brain that is not going through paroxyms of hysterics. The author's name is Erika Andersen.

TIME TO BE COUNTED
The good old two-faced libs are heavy duty ragging on my gal, Ann Coulter. Apparently they have the market on what's right ... and being they own most of the media they're out to get our poster gal.
Anyway ... wanna get the lovely Ms Coulters column sent to your e-mail weekly (Wednesday, I believe)? Then go HERE.
This is similar to the Chris Wallace brouhaha. Only the arrogant boors on the LEFT are allowed to speak the "truth."

HOW BIASED CAN THE MEDIA BE?
Pretty biased... and usually so arrogant they don't notice. Case in point. I usually check the day's headlines via Google. For going on a week now, Google's entertainment section has featured that fat documentarian's new "documentary" about the health care system.
(No. I haven't seen it. No. I will never see it. No. I don't really care what he has to say. He's an ambush journalist who goes after people who won't smack him in the mouth. Of course, being a lib -- unlike, say, Chris Wallace -- he's "allowed" to do it with impunity. Ergo: his art is bullshit.)
Anyway ... point is, there hasn't been a story to spend more time on (in any other of Google's sections) unless you count general war coverage. And that's a story. Take something actually earth shattering, like a cure for a disease (any disease) and it gets one day coverage on the Google news list.
Of course, what meathead has to say is just sooooo much more important ...
Argh. It's hot, I'm sweaty.
Nuke Iran.

OF COURSE WE SHOULDN’T NUKE ‘EM …
They’re totally innocent. How silly of me to think otherwise.
What’s that you say? How come Syria is buying a billion (as in a million million) $$s worth of MiG-31E Foxhounds? Oh …protection, of course.
And how can they afford it?
Well, according to Russian newspapers such as Kommersant (which, by national definition means it’s a paper practicing “real” journalism, unlike that of our coddled scribes) reports”
“... a lot of MiG-29M/M2 jets was sold to Syria as well. They are being sold abroad for the first time and are similar in their technical specifications to the MiG-35 model Russia is now offering India. The total value of the contract for the MiG-31 and MiG-29M/M2 aircraft is estimated at $1 billion” going on to add that the amount raises questions, noting the likelihood that the deal is being financed by Iran as a back-door purchase ...”
And then there’s this from DEFENSE INDUSTRY DAILY :
“Kommersant cites a number of indicators that this may be the case, including a Jane’s report in May 2007 that a similar arrangement has being used to funnel some of Syria's 36 new Pantsir-S1E air defense systems to Iran in exchange for a fence's (sorry, "intermediary") fee. They also cite the 2 countries' recent mutual defense agreements, including the July 2006 agreement signed by both countries' defense ministers, which envisaged Iranian financing of Syrian arms deals with Russia, Ukraine and China.
“In response, Russian authorities have issued non-denial denials.
“Russia's Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said in a statement that "...all of Russia's deals in the sphere of military-technical cooperation comply with international law and Russia's obligations under various treaties and United Nations resolutions." Since none of those obligation prohibit sales to Syria, this response is utterly meaningless.
“Sergei Chemezov, head of state arms-trading monopoly Rosoboronexport, is quoted as saying that "Russia has no plans to deliver fighter jets to Syria and Iran." Of course, a sale of fighter jets only to Syria would comply with this statement - and if the Syrians choose to send them to Iran, that concerns Syria's plans and not Russia's.”
Nuke ‘em all and damn the Libs, Dems and anybody else in the way.

I was watching some talking heads on the boob tube last night and they were all waxing puffedly authoritative on topics with which their teleprompters only seemed half-educated, when it came to me ...
Where have all the good ol' assassins gone?
Folks like JWB, Lee Harvey, James Earl, Squeaky, Sirhan2, Dan White, Crazy Johnny Hinckley and that asshole who shot John Lennon, etc., et al.
They're like highway cops. Never around when ya need them.

HERE'S TO SALMAN
A tip of the boonie hat to Salman Rushdie for pissing off the Muslim world again.
Seems the Brits decided to knight him -- can you say Sir Salman three times fast? -- and the first bunch to get their knickers in an uprorar were the Pakis. I suppose Sir Salman will have to make himself scarce again.
Congrats to the latest knight.

SOME GOOD VIDS WORTH A LOOK
I spent 27 months in Nam, but only 18 were in hard-core combat (in some cases the rear echelon BS was even more dangerous, but those are stories for a different time). I still can recall the importance of mail to the stationed-in-bumfuck GI, so I’ll aver that the same holds for today’s men and women. Anyway …
HERE’S a nice little video pointed at the general subject that caring for our people counts.
After you’ve finished and dried your eyes, visit HERO MILES and do something about it.
My thanks to Tom G for passing it on.
On another related topic (i.e., the Middle East) HERE’S an historically solid look at just how the whole thing got started. I think it goes overboard on the everybody’s-killing-Jews thing, but none of my ancestors were gassed, burned or otherwise part of the final solution (You’re not paranoid if people really are after you!).
Regardless, it certainly provides more than enough food for thought. This comes to me from the Terrorism Awareness Project.

PASSPORT PROBLEMS

Above is a solution to all the passport problems those of you who procrastinate and wait to the last minute and then complain that the wait is too long are having.
FWIW: The requirement that every American returning to the US from anywhere have a passport was lifted because of the backlog generated by all of you who waited to get a passport for the summer vacation you didn't know you were taking until eight months ago, and now stood to lose $$ because you can't go if you can't get back in.
Thanks to Scott K for the pic.

LEST YOU THINK THIS TERRORISM CRAP IS NEW

On this day, June 15, in 1985
US Navy Steelworker 2nd Class Robert D. Stethem of Underwater Construction Team 1 is killed by the Hezbollah Shi'ite hijackers (any of those adjectives ring a bell?) of TWA Flight 847. Un-armed, Stethem was savagely beaten, shot and his body unceremoniously dropped on the tarmac by the animals.
These scum have been subhuman in the name of Allah for a looooong time.

Congrats to all of you in the Green Machine.

HYSTERICAL !!!

Just happened to stumble across a clip for a National Lampoon project titled 72 Virgins.
It looks like a one-joke premise, but I will pay to see it, just so I can have arguments and fights with asshole protesters outside the movie.
Cast your vote on whether this movie should go (it running around 65-35 for it right now).
The premise is hysterical and is spot on and oh-so-true to National Lampoon’s roots and original purpose. The premise would make the Monty Python crew jealous, and while I’m sure the movie would probably suck, it’ll draw such a hue and cry from the liberals, Muslims, ACLU, etc., that it will be a BIG money-maker.
Vote and view the clip HERE.
MORE MEDIA MALFEASANCE — BODY ARMOR REDUX
Malfeasance? Plain ol' lying.
The technical expert solicited by [NBC] to certify its tests of Dragon Skin body armor admitted Wednesday that the controversial vests weren't "ready for prime time."
In an investigative report broadcast by NBC May 20, the network used the expert opinion of Dr. Phillip Coyle - the former director of test and evaluation at the Pentagon during the Clinton administration - to certify results of side-by-side tests conducted at NBC's expense in Germany.
In testimony submitted to the House Armed Services Committee during a June 6 hearing in the issue, Coyle stated Dragon Skin - manufactured by Fresno, Calif.-based Pinnacle Armor - was "better … against multiple rounds and in reducing blunt force trauma" than the Army's current rifle-resistant Interceptor armor.
But after being confronted with conflicting information by lawmakers who questioned the NBC test results and provided Army-supplied data of vest failures from a May 2006 test, Coyle backed away from his staunch defense of Dragon Skin.
"You're saying today ... that you cannot say that it's ready for prime time. That's your testimony?" Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) asked Coyle.
Coyle agreed that the NBC tests fell short of proving Dragon Skin was ready for fielding.
For more about this than you’ll read anywhere else, go to MILITARY-dot-COM.

A TERRORIST TOOL WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT
This is but a small part of A Britisher’s View of the JFK Terror Plot , but one worth wading through, if only to help those of you who think condemning Islam as a terrorist tool is somehow unethical. It’s by Shavana Abruzzo.
“Yet, whatever part of the world these groups and their cowardly cohorts hail from — America, Great Britain, France, Iran, Iraq, Guyana, Indonesia, Spain, Yemen, Iraq, etc., ad nauseam — they possess an unmitigated common denominator: they are all Muslims. They are willing to cause untold death and destruction - just for the sake of it. They are chomping at the bit to kill innocent men, women and children — just for the sake of it. They are dying to die because, ultimately, their version of Islam affords them no life. They are further emboldened by a terrified liberal front, which is content to hurl misplaced blame at those very progressive societies that have replaced their barbaric histories with the reason, logic and compassion that have now become their Achilles heel.
“It is that same liberal front, which refuses to condemn Islamic terrorists, instead seeking sycophantic refuge in the ingratiation of our enemies.”
As their ancient, deeply civilized culture of love, art and philosophical reflection is hijacked by paranoiacs, racists, liars, male supremacists, tyrants, fanatics and violence junkies, why are they not screaming? ... The Islamic world today is being held prisoner, not by Western but by Islamic captors, who are fighting to keep closed a world that a badly outnumbered few are trying to open. As long as the majority remains silent, this will be a tough war to win. But in the end, or so we must hope, someone will kick down that prison door. — Salman Rushdie.

AND IN OTHER NEWS ...
A federal appeals court says it's illegal to hold an American citizen -- in this case an Omani immigrant -- on suspicion of involvement with terrorists without charging him.
Apparently, the court decided this guy has rights.
This is much like other courts that assert criminals have rights after they've committed crimes against non-criminals.
Those of you who will/might/could be blown up by this mutt, apparently, have no rights.
Ah, but that's the government running rough shod over civil rights.

Damn, Joe ... I may move to CT and become a Democrat just to make sure you stay in office.

(Much to my chagrin -- and surprise -- Colin Powell says we should dialogue with Syria, Iran, etc., et al. Uh ... Colin, we've tried that remember? It doesn't work. They're thieves, liars, religious fanatics and closet hedonists who enjoy inflicting pain and 10th century morality on their own people who are ovine enough to allow it. Nuke 'em instead.)
(And once again ... nuke them, don't occupy or optherwise put people on the ground. Nuke 'em. If they get up, nuke 'em again and keep doing it until the country turns to glass.)

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN ...
What the hell is the problem with the Los Angeles PD? Has anyone ever seen more inept police work than what goes on in so-aptly-named La-La Land every time a celebrity of some dubious or not so dubious magnitude breaks the law and has to be hustled off somewhere?
I confess I actually watched this on one of those entertainment "reports" ... there's ol' Skanky getting hauled back off to the lockup and some eight thousand shooters have mobbed a police car. Instead of clubbing the piss out the shooters, the cops let the situation -- once again -- get totally out of hand and nearly end up with a riot over some ditz going to jail.
Didn't that department learn anything from the OJ arrerst and trial?
PLease ...someone from LA rebut this. Please. The entire department can't really be that star struck, can it?

BEST REPORTAGE OF THE WEEK GOES TO …
Doug Fraser of the Cape Cod Times
If more reporters wrote like Mr. Fraser, I wouldn’t have anything to rail about at the media. This is about lobster fishing and fishery politics up on Cape Cod (duh!), but if you read between the lines, you’ll find there are no lines to read between.
That’s because Fraser reports news by representing all sides of the story. It’s called “being objective” and should have been learned in Journalism 101, but – for many of the “reporters” on the MSM scene today – quite obviously wasn’t.
Go to the CAPE COD TIMES for a read, whether you care about or like lobster.
Good reporting is good reporting.

“BEST OPENER OF THE WEEK” AWARD GOES TO …
… Heather Havrilesky and Rebecca Traiste of SALON.COM.
Even if you do live in a cave you could no more have missed the Paris-goes-to-jail spectacle than you could have missed the OJ trial or the death of Anna Nicole (both of whom were soooo culturally important that no proper or surnames are needed).
Having a chance to catch up on my e-mail this morning I came across a couple of items that were extremely well-written; and you KNOW how I feel about the MSM (main stream media). I decided that if I was going to rail against sloppy and subjective reporting, I may as well laud the good stuff, and herewith is the first of the awards.
It’s the opener for a piece entitled Paris isn’t free -- and neither are we
“Resistance is futile. You can avert your eyes, cover your ears, change the channel and close your browser, but you can't escape the truth: Paris Hilton has become an omnipresent cultural icon, a symbol of the depravity of our times, and thanks to Friday's sobbing, O.J.-level arrest spectacle, she’s destined to remain at the forefront of that rushing flow of global news until we're all old and gray.”
If they'd have used "..flushing flow of global news ..." it would have been absolutely perfect.

Amnesty Interntional and five other so-called human rights organizations have released a "report" about CIA prisons on non-US soil. Ostensibly there are 39 "ghost prisoners" being held. One of the purported jails is said to be in our ol' buddy Kahdafi's Libya.

BODY ARMOR REDUX
I apologize for not having kept up on the body armor controversey, but it always slips the mind of this RVN-era vet. Back then the only things available were called flak vests and nobody in my outfit had one, much less wore one (we didn't have or own steel pots, nor entrenching tools and a few other military odds and ends).
I know the Marines had to wear them, and the only other thing I know about them is that the zippers and buttons turned into shrapnel when you were hit. Hot, heavy and designed to stop shrapnel ... from far away apparently!
Anyway ... the Government Accounting Office (GAO), finished an investigation on the present-day armor. A synopsis is HERE and the full report can be found HERE if you're interested.

AND TOMORROW IS ...
The 63rd Anniversary of the Normandy landings. D-Day, June 6, 1944
The parallels to today are staggering, but then, because the Greatest Generation did what they did, we're considerably poorer morally and ethically than they.
I hope we remember September 11, 2001 as long. I doubt it, but I do hope so.
Oh well ... here's to those of you who made the landing and are still with us. This ex-paratrooper thanks you.

Oh well ... here's to those of you who made the landing and are still with us. This ex-paratrooper thanks you.
WAIT ...IT GETS BETTER
Last week, Kay Pepin, University of Michigan-Dearborn Director of Facilities Planning, and Terry Gallagher, a U of M-Dearborn spokesman, confirmed that plans are in the works to build Muslim footbaths (they refer to them as "foot-washing stations") in both the University Center and Fairlane Center buildings at the university.
When asked why the footbaths were being installed, Gallagher said this is "an accommodation to a significant portion of our student body and their friends and visitors in accordance with our mission." He said that it is a growing trend with Boston University, Cal State-Fullerton, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Washington University of St. Louis, all installing footbaths. "We wanted to be part of that trend in accommodating Muslim students."
When asked what portion of the U-M Dearborn is Muslim,Gallagher said that the most recent information the school has is from a 2004 survey of incoming freshman. The survey only identified 11% of students as Muslims, whereas 37% of incoming freshman were Roman Catholic. When I asked if there was any accommodation or money spent on Catholic students, he could not identify any.

THE NEW WORLD ORDER ...
... is filled with people fed up with liberal, panty-waisted, Islamicist ass-kissing politicians. It takes cojones to run a world. Too bad the Dems don't have any.

I'm off to Paris! I hereby revoke every churlish remark I've ever made about those lovely Gallic people. (But in light of former New Jersey governor and current "gay American" Jim McGreevey's latest career move, I redouble everything I've ever said about the Episcopalians.)
With Nicolas Sarkozy's decisive victory as the new president of France, the French have produced their first pro-American ruler since Louis XVI.
In celebration of France's spectacular return to Western civilization, I bought a Herve Leger dress on Monday, and we're having croissants for breakfast every day this week. This delicate French pastry, by the way, is in the shape of a crescent to commemorate the Crusaders' victory over Islam. Aren't the French just peachy?
"Sarkozy the American," as he is known in France, called Muslim rioters "scum." Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. He explained his position on Muslim immigrants in France, saying: "Nobody has to, I repeat, live in France. But when you live in France, you respect its rules. That is to say that you are not a polygamist. One doesn't practice female genital mutilation on one's daughters, one doesn't slit the throat of the sheep, and one respects the republican rules."
Sarko never issued an apology or entered rehab. To the contrary, he said: "I called some individuals that I refuse to call 'youth' by the name they deserve. ... I never felt that by saying 'scum' I was being vulgar, hypocritical or insincere."
Is there a single American politician who would speak so clearly without then apologizing to Howard Dean?
It looks like the Democrats are going to have to drop their talking point about Bush irritating the rest of the world. Evidently not as much as Muslim terrorists irritate the rest of the world. The politicians who hate Bush keep being dumped by their own voters.
At the Democratic presidential debate a few weeks ago, B. Hussein Obama carped that Bush had "alienate(d) the world community" and vowed that he would build "the sort of alliances and trust around the world that has been so lacking over the last six years."
Democrats are terrific at building alliances. Remember how Jimmy Carter won the love of the world by ditching our ally the Shah of Iran, allowing him be replaced by a string of crazy ayatollahs? Since then, we haven't heard a peep from that area of the world.
The smartest woman in the world sniped that she would "create alliances instead of alienation."
Yes, it was spellbinding how her husband charmed North Korean dictator Kim Il Sung and his sociopathic son Kim Jong Il by showering them with visits from Jimmy Carter and gifts from love-machine Madeleine Albright. And that was that: No more trouble from North Korea!
As I understand it, the center of the supposedly America-hating world is France. But now it turns out even the French don't hate America as much as liberals do.
Au contraire! (We can say that again!) Our Georgie is the most popular American with the French since Jerry Lewis (news, bio, voting record). All over the civilized world, voters are turning terrorist-coddling liberals out of office and voting for politicians friendly toward Bush, the world's sworn enemy of Islamic fascism.
Those foreign leaders so admired by Democrats for hating George Bush and loving Saddam Hussein are being replaced by rulers who pledge their friendship to the United States. American celebrities who threaten to move out of the country every election rather than live under a conservative leader are running out of countries to move to.
Retrospectively, B. Hussein Obama's answer about our most important ally being "the European Union" may eventually become true, thanks to Bush's ceaseless ally-making.
In Germany, pro-American Angela Merkel crushed the mincing anti-American chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in 2005.
Last year, conservatives swept Canada, making Conservative Party leader Stephen Harper the prime minister. I haven't loved Canadians this much since the New York Rangers won the Stanley Cup.
Australian Prime Minister John Howard is both the longest-serving Australian prime minister and -- by his own account -- the most conservative. As The New York Times rooted for his defeat in 2004, claiming Australians were furious with him for his support of the Iraq war, he won a historic third term.
Along with Howard, Bush's staunchest ally in the war on terrorism has been Britain's Labor Party leader Tony Blair. He's about to leave office only to be replaced by a leader from the even more pro-American Conservative Party.
Only Spain remains a nation of women. As long as Spain exists, it will not outlive the shame of its gutless capitulation to terrorist bombings in 2004. It is worse than Sweden's neutrality toward Hitler.
But France! Until this week, France seemed a less likely place to find someone who supports America than a meeting of Democrats. Apparently, even the French prefer Western civilization to clitorectomy-performing, car-burning savages.
The Democratic Party is now officially the only organization on Earth that does not take the threat of Islamic fascism seriously. Between the Democrats and the media, America has gone from its usual position as the world's last hope to radical Islam's last hope.

FOR THOSE WHO MISSED IT
Nah, there are no Islamic terrorist plots on things like JFK Airport, etc., et al.
Although some papers (Long Island, NY's stalwart, Newsday, for example) went to six pages of coverage of this plot to blow the tank farm pipeline at Kennedy (giving, I am sure, more than a few hints and suggestions to other erstwhile Islamicists with a desire to inflcit harm on innocents), here's a summary from the Associated Press (via the Houston Chronicle) that pretty much covers things A to Z. Go HERE.
