ISRAEL, JEWS, FRIENDS, FOES, ETC.

Let’s get a few facts straight before I rant. There isn’t any oil in Israel and they’re our allies. Now, personally, I’ve always been fond of the Moroccans, and I’ve always wanted to go to Libya, and of course the Emirates … but … well, when push comes to shove, the Israelis are pretty much our guys. It may be a Crips/Bloods/together-against-the-cops relationship some times, but there it is.

They’ve screwed us a few times, but since Jimmy Carter literally sacrificed all our humintel assets in the Middle East, we’ve pretty much had to depend on the Israelis.

Second point. The Israelis have some serious cojones, on top of which they can kick the crap out of any non-Israeli civilization in the neighborhood. They have and they will. Especially when the shit hits the fan.

Now. There never was a Palestine. Ever.

I’d like to see the “Palestinians” get a place to lay their heads, but beyond that I’m not getting unduly worked up about it. There was never an Israel until 1949, but they fought, they won, and have every bit of right to what they won as do we (we, being Americans). There was never an America until 1776 and we slaughtered millions of people to get what we have today. It’s my ball, you don’t like the rules, go away.

Now. By and large, conservatives aren’t thrilled with the Jews (and don’t say anything stupid. By “the Jews” I mean the Israelis). That said … by and large the only people who support the Jews are the conservatives.

As Israel came under attack last week, the producer of a talk show on a major Washington D.C. radio station declared that because the existence of Israel was bringing us to the brink of nuclear war, he could no longer support Israel’s right to exist (this from a left-wing Jew). The stupidity inherent in this statement would get my Down Syndrome brother fired if he uttered it, but …

Around the same time, the Website Daily Kos, which is a power in the Democratic Party and is spearheading the campaign to unseat JoeLieberman WHO THE DEMS RAN FOR VP, posted an item headed, “Imagine a world without Israel.” The subhead read, “Or is that not allowed?”

That’s the lovely kinda hate-mongering conservatives get accused of all the time. But it’s okay in a rag like WAPO’s, or the Times’.

Speaking of … The cover of WAPO’s magazine last Sunday was headlined, “Is the Israel Lobby Too Powerful?”

If that appeared on Fox TV, it’d be … well, it’d be a headline in WAPO along with all the usual anti-Bush sentiments (Damn. You didn’t KNOW that this is all George Bush’s fault? Where ya been?).

The point of all this is … it’s real easy to see who the enemy is … all you gotta do is read.
