I spent 27 months in Nam, but only 18 were in hard-core combat (in some cases the rear echelon BS was even more dangerous, but those are stories for a different time). I still can recall the importance of mail to the stationed-in-bumfuck GI, so I’ll aver that the same holds for today’s men and women. Anyway …

On another related topic (i.e., the Middle East) HERE’S an historically solid look at just how the whole thing got started. I think it goes overboard on the everybody’s-killing-Jews thing, but none of my ancestors were gassed, burned or otherwise part of the final solution (You’re not paranoid if people really are after you!).
Regardless, it certainly provides more than enough food for thought. This comes to me from the Terrorism Awareness Project.
