UNSOLVED MYSTERY SOLVED?

I don't know how many of you go back to the early days of diving, but I was first attracted to it (and, as a spin-off, surfing) in the late 50s/early 60s. One of the many things that lured me into what would become a nearly life-long hobby/sport/job was news that a British "frogman" had disappeared around a Russian ship that had brought Russian leaders to England for a meeting. A body was later found and ID'd as the diver — Lt. Cmdr Lionel "Buster" Crabb (top, left) — even though it had been in the soak for quite a while and was missing some body parts ... such as its head.

Anyway ... this Cold War mystery may have been solved. HERE'S what a Russian diver had to say about the disappearance.

A new book is due out on the tale, and what this news has to do with that is ... well ... who knows. Crabb's disappearance remains every bit as intriguing as that of Donald Crowhurst (top, right), the round-the-world sailor.

Ya' gotta hand it to the Brits when it comes to mystery!
