REUNION - E/58, K/75
This was put together for the 40th reunion of the 4th Division's E Co. 58th Inf. (LRP/LRRP) and Co. K, 75th Inf. (Rangers), held in Kansas City, Missouri, June 26 to 29, 2008.
The Vietnam Veterans of America, ‘VVA.’ – would never have survived without the help of Jane Fonda and Bruce Springsteen. John Kerry co-founded both organizations with with Bobby Muller, the paraplegic Vietnam Vet who inspired the Bruce Springsteen song, 'Born in the U.S.A.’
Springsteen helped save the fledgling VVA by performing benefit concerts and giving cash to the VVA, which was the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. The VVA was struggling for cash because the organization’s past poisoned it in the minds of most Viet Nam Vets and it never had a large membership.
In fact, Bruce Springsteen and Jane Fonda in many ways made possible the survival of the Vietnam Veterans of America. The VVA was dying on the vine. Fonda gave cash and Springsteen performed benefit concerts for the VVA.
Both Kerry and Muller were officers and served in Vietnam. Both returned from Vietnam and joined the antiwar movement…Their parallel lives continued as both went to law school -- Muller to Hofstra, Kerry to Boston College…in 1978, they co-founded (with two others) Vietnam Veterans of America...
In December 1981, with money from Jane Fonda and a few months after Springsteen's benefit concert, Muller went to Hanoi where he laid a wreath at the mausoleum of communist leader Ho Chi Minh. A bronze plaque read: ''With Respect, Vietnam Veterans of America.''
I don’t buy Jane Fonda workout tapes, I don’t buy Bruce Springsteen music, and I am not voting for Barack Hussein Obama.
