Kirstin Gillibrand, a Congresswoman from up in the Albany area, sounds like a rock solid replacement for Hillary.
Old political family, 100-percent rating from the NRA, voted against the bailout twice, and it sounds like Rep. Carolyn McCarthy hates her guts (McCarthy still doesn't get it that a deranged person shot her husband, apparently).
Sounds like a good choice by Governor Paterson ... and hell, it beats a Kennedy by a mile.

[UPDATE: Apparently, Newsday and the Times are not thrilled with Paterson's appointment and wonder if she can fill Hillary's shoes (and, fair play, Senator Clinton did a good job for New Yorkers). So .... that pretty much answers the question of whether Congresswoman Gillibrand is the right person for the job. If they're skeptical or doubting, then I'm sure as shit looking forward to her term.]
