This picture was taken from the French frigate FS La Motte Picquet as she steamed toward Norfolk in early March. According to an account of the voyage the frigate, "... crossed 3 bad storms, with a maximum wind speed of 90 kts." The picture is one of the biggest waves — estimated at 45 feet — they had ever encountered.
I don't know about 45 feet ... that looks a helluva lot bigger than that!
