This happened today in Des Moines, Iowa. The guy on the end of the crane is Jason Oglesbee, a construction worker for Cramer & Associates in Grimes, IA.
The whitewater at the base of the dam is what is known as a recirculator. These form at the bottom of dams like this and keep whatever gets in it in the base of the fall. Swiftwater rescue teams tried several times to rescue the woman unsuccessfully until Oglesbee took a shot.
Nice job, Mr. Oglesbee. Love the harness!
