HOW HARD IS IT?

Mt. Everest is the tallest (and still growing) mountain in the world at29.029, while K-2 in the Karakoram Range (jingoistically known as The American Mountain) is a "mere" 28,251, making it number two in the altitude pantheon.

Nonetheless, this climbing season has seen 508 people summit Everest (with three deaths) and no one summit K2 (and two deaths).
