Just as it's looking that medical science is getting near a cure for HIV/AID comes this news.
There's a new superbug in town.
Apparently it comes from plastic surgery mills in India and has been a problem in west Asia (and thus has jumped to Britain and Europe) for the past two years or so.
Then a little tidbit from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in a June Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report noted three cases in America.
Essentially, NDM-1, the name of the bacteria (New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase), is resistant to everything, including last-ditch antibiotics. For those of you with a science bent, read the article HERE. For the rest of you, Google NDM-1 and you'll find plenty of news reports.
Oh good...now we're all gonna' die ....again.
Update, 8-12-10: India says to Brits: Bull, it ain't our fault. Not that it's going to make a big difference in the long run.
