WATCHING NASCAR

I know lots of people don't understand the fascination — and I will admit that watching them race on the ovals isn't always enthralling — but if you caught any of Sunday's NASCAR race at Watkins Glen you would have seen some really, really good racing.

Called the "Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen," the upstate road course race was won by Juan Pablo Montoya, with a quiet but very good second place by Kurt Busch, and some excellent racing between JP and Aussie Marcos Ambrose (who won the Nationwide race, going away, the day before).

Anyway ... the very nice racing, and not the usual demolition derby one tends to see some of the NASCAR guys do at a road course.
