An editorial in today's WAPO notes (here's a surprise ... again) that Gitmo should be closed. The editorial carries the subtitle, “The U.S. Has an Obligation to the Prisoners It Is 'Releasing' Overseas.” The single quotation marks refer to the fact we’re releasing these mutts to other prisons, usually in their home countries, and usually a whole lot more unpleasant than Gitmo was ever going to be.
Meanwhile, the Arab world's version of WAPO, Al Jazeera, lead todays news with a story about Gitmo titled "They Forced Me To Pray Towards America, Not Mecca" or a reasonable facsimile thereof. The inmate says that US MPs pointed him the wrong direction.
Okay, class, repeat after me: "The sun rises in the east and sets in the west."
Uh, boo-hoo, boo-hoo. Bite me on all counts.
