FLAG DE-RAISING UPDATE

If this doesn't piss you off ... then move the hell to another country.

Guess what? The ACLU says it's okay to run an American flag beneath another country's flag.

Here's a momentous moment in LRRP's World.

Fuck you, ACLU. (First time I've exercised my right to free speech by using that particular word.)

Apparently the TV station (KRNV, an NBC affiliate) that ran the piece about the Mexican flag being run over an American flag and the vet who took it down has taken the video off its site, although the story remains, and is now getting worse. The Reno PD agrees with the ACLU, but I can't tell if this is a case of life imitating art, a la Reno 911.

I'd like to say I discovered this, but I didn't ... here's where I found out about it, and it includes several e-mails to protest the fact to the station management. (yes, the blog looks familiar. It's called a template and apparently the owner has as much good taste in design as I do).

FYI (Whether you like it or not), we're the host country. Obey OUR rules and regs.

"When flags of States, cities, or localities, or pennants of societies are flown on the same halyard with the flag of the United States, the latter should always be at the peak. When the flags are flown from adjacent staffs, the flag of the United States should be hoisted first and lowered last. No such flag or pennant may be placed above the flag of the United States or to the right of the flag of the United States (the viewer's left). When the flag is half-masted, both flags are half-masted, with the US flag at the mid-point and the other flag below."
