NO PELOSI IN CHIEF

I swore to God I wouldn't get wrapped up in the election campaigning yet ... BUT

This is of interest to New Yorkers and specifically East Enders. Lee Zeldin will be running for a Congressional Seat in 2008, and if he does nothing else beyond this, he has my vote.

Those of you NOT from the area, need to give this a read, purely because it actually says something.

I'm also naming Mr. Zeldin winner of LRRP's World's Line of the Week award for his "Our Constitution does not call for a Pelosi in Chief."

If you really DO support the grunts in the field, you'll want to read the following.

STATEMENT FROM US CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE LEE ZELDIN

"On the House of Representatives Passage of the War Spending Bill Yesterday
I condemn Congressional Representatives of both parties for ignoring successes AND sacrifices of our military this past year by voting in support of the misnamed Orderly and Responsible Redeployment Appropriations Act. Since my deployment to Iraq in 2006, General Petraeus and the warriors fighting alongside him have made great strides in reducing murder, rape and intimidation crimes throughout Iraq. Sadr City has been cleansed by the paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division, Iraqi police throughout the country are showing up to work more often due to increased accountability measures, and former insurgents are now working with our troops to destroy Al Qaeda in Iraq. Also of significance is that American troop deaths have been noticeably dropping and the number of Iranian bombs in Iraq has been cut in half.

"Regardless of whether or not we should have invaded Iraq, the fact is that we have men and women in harm’s way, fighting for strategic and tactical victories where possible and many have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

"Our Constitution does not call for a Pelosi in Chief. General Petraeus is working towards bringing our troops home starting next month and our Congress must acknowledge his successes, support his recommendations, and honor our military's sacrifices regardless of misguided pursuits and misplaced self-interest. My congressman, Tim Bishop, and his leader, Nancy Pelosi, win if we lose in Iraq and that is not responsible leadership. Yesterday's most recent political stunt probably will not even make it to the President's desk. The House of Representatives and Senate hold their separate press conferences, and agree on nothing when the topic of cut and run is on the table. Since the Democrats have taken over Congress, 40 different pieces of legislation to quit Iraq have been publicized without anything actually being sent to the President for approval, making this more a dog and pony show than responsible governance.

"Support General Petraeus and his plan. It is working. Among other initiatives, it calls for reducing the number of American troops starting next month. Since January of this year, he has given Americans the strength to stand up to Washington and support a game plan for victory in withdrawal.

"When our troops come home, I would rather our heads be held high rather than dragging through the sand with a white flag draped over our backs."

The Congress has too come out and support our troops. Failure to send a clear message of support will be demoralizing and the end result will be a new generation that does not want to volunteer for SERVICE. Rep. Bishop are you in de facto favor of bringing back the DRAFT? I don't want to see that, do you?
Rep Bishop where do you stand on the BURNING issues of our time??
