There's an e-mail making the rounds about stopping the purchases of Mideast oil to force the market down. It suggests you go to some gas stations and not others.
The facts are — as usually happens with these missives — somewhat either outdated or just plain wrong. So, like everybody in this gah-damn country SHOULD do, I chased down the realfacts. (And that doesn't mean looking it up on Snopes. I'm not real sure they haven't let their politics get in front of their research).
The following companies received NO Middle Eastern oil (defined as Persian Gulf oil coming from Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates) between January and December 2007.
