If you pay attention to what goes on in politics vis a vis the "coverage" provided by the self-neutered MSM, you may note that the rejection of the John McCain editorial went through the usual process: 1) rejection based on subjectivity; b) scorn by payroll pundits; c) disappearance from MSM.
I just wish one of these erstwhile journalistic outlets had the balls to do something similar to Obama, just to keep up the guise of objectivity, but they're too ball-less to do so.
Ah, well, soon the print versions will no longer exist and the ethereal versions will be just so much more white noise.
