WAY TO GO, PILOT

The pilot in yesterday’s US Air ditching into the Hudson River (a friggin’ miracle, considering what could have happened to the plane and NYC) was Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III, a former fighter pilot (reportedly an F-4 jockey) from Danville, Calif., with more than 40 years of flying experience.

Sullenberger (who is a USAF Academy grad among his other quite impressive aeronautical credentials) founded Safety Reliability Methods Inc. to apply advances in safety systems.

Check out the Website for his complete bona fides/CV.

Regardless… hell of a job, pilot.

[UPDATE: The co-pilot — who I'm sure had more than a few things to do with the results of the ditching — is a Wisconsin native and long-time US Air pilot named Jeff Skiles. Hell of a job, to the number two seat, as well.]

[UPDATE 2: Neat, short piece from the crew at RANGER UP]
