OUR NATION IS BROKE

An excellent letter-to-the-editor I stumbled across at Progress Index.Com today.

To the Editor:

On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, our Senate met to vote on the government health care reform/public option. Our government is already in debt, but this administration and the Senate don't seem to care.

The taxpayers of America are expected to pay trillions of dollars in taxes for this horrific government health care reform. It's not free health insurance people, someone has to pay for it, and that someone is the workers of this country. Not only will we be paying taxes for the government health reform for those who want free health insurance, but these taxes will be passed on to our children and our grandchildren.

Every program the government runs if broke. Medicare, Medicaid, the U.S. Post Office, and Social Security are all financial disasters. The only reason Social Security recipients are receiving their monthly checks so far is because the United States is borrowing money from China.

Our nation is broke and our government (the president and the Senate) will not listen to our voices. More than half of the country does not want the government health care reform. The only ones who do want it are those who don't have to pay for it. Why don't they let the tax paying people of this nation vote on this?

Why were we not concerned about all that 8 years ago? Too little too late.
