German Chancellor Angela Merkel said we should close Guantanamo Bay and find other ways of dealing with “terror suspects.” According to a story in the January 8 Al Jazeera, quoting from an article that ran in Der Spiegel, hunger strikers are being kept alive by force feeding. (The title of the piece is “Crimes in Guantanamo grow more horrific”[sic].)
